Business Development Analyst - Remote Opportunity at Etsy

About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development Analyst remote to join our dynamic team at Etsy. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in accelerating Etsy's growth through strategic advisory, partnerships, and acquisitions. Your insights into emerging business models and technologies, particularly in the realm of Artificial Intelligence, will be crucial in strengthening Etsy's competitive edge and long-term strategy.

What You'll Do

• Identify, size, and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions that drive growth and innovation for Etsy’s marketplace.
• Analyze competitor performance, industry trends, and emerging technologies (including AI) to inform strategic decision-making.
• Build and maintain a repository of competitive intelligence, including company metrics, financials, and key developments.
• Develop financial models to support partnership and M&A evaluation, including inbound opportunities.
• Conduct ad hoc strategic analyses such as market sizing, business case development, and build/buy/partner assessments.
• Partner with product teams to evaluate and execute integrations, including understanding APIs, data feeds, and AI/LLM capabilities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including product, legal, and marketing, as well as external partners.
• Stay attuned to industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies, bringing genuine curiosity to all aspects of the role.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or consulting, ideally within a technology or consumer internet context.
• Strong understanding of the e-commerce, consumer internet, and/or AI landscape, with the ability to apply market insights to strategic decisions.
• Proven ability to use data to support recommendations, including building financial models when needed.
• Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams.
• Ability to bridge business and technical concepts, including familiarity with APIs and AI/LLM capabilities and limitations.
• Strong communication skills, including experience with written materials and presentations (e.g., Google Slides, PowerPoint).

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI tools and emerging technologies to improve workflows and analysis.
• Comfort working with legal terms and agreements.
