Software Engineer II - Backend (Consumer Engineering) Remote

About the Role

We're hiring a Software Engineer II, Backend (Consumer Engineering) remote to join our innovative team at Affirm. In this role, you'll be instrumental in building scalable foundational systems and data pipelines that power our Card platforms. Your work will directly impact our ability to provide honest and friendly credit solutions to consumers, enabling them to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to design robust Card Processing systems.
• Break down larger projects into manageable tasks and deliver them in multiple phases.
• Support the product development lifecycle by engaging with product management, design, and analytics teams.
• Monitor and create metrics to ensure the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts.
• Build and integrate data pipelines from various products and systems.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as required for system support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with distributed systems technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to navigate large codebases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Previous experience in the FinTech industry.
