Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, allowing you to work remotely while also collaborating in our Raleigh, NC office. As a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing, testing, and releasing embedded software for innovative power solutions that support critical infrastructure, including data centers.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to launch new products, including SiC-based three-phase power conversion systems.
• Translate system-level specifications into embedded software architecture for new products.
• Evaluate alternative embedded software architecture solutions based on cost, performance, and schedule.
• Develop, debug, and test embedded software in C/C++ for real-time control and system functionality.
• Validate designs using real-time hardware in the loop (HIL) simulation systems.
• Develop and optimize HDL code (e.g., VHDL/Verilog) for implementing digital control algorithms on FPGA.
• Support board-level bring-up and debugging of PLC, Microcontroller, and FPGA-based systems using tools such as oscilloscopes and JTAG debuggers.
• Apply best engineering practices for advanced technical problem-solving and provide guidance to project team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in real-time Firmware/Embedded software development for three-phase power electronics, or a Master's Degree with at least 1 year of experience.
• Strong understanding of analog & digital control theory and digital filter designs.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and FPGA-based implementation.
• Familiarity with industry-standard FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital control circuitry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Design experience with power electronic products.
• Experience developing digital controls and algorithms for AC and DC power conversion.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
