Software Section Leader - Battle Management Software

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Software Section Leader to join our Battle Management Software Department at Raytheon, a leader in aerospace and defense. This position is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and offers an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team of software engineers. As a Software Section Leader, you will play a crucial role in driving the design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an active Agile environment. This is a full-time, onsite position that requires U.S. citizenship and an active security clearance.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate the activities of multiple engineers working on various programs, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for our customers.
• Drive the design and development of software solutions, utilizing languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, and Ada.
• Communicate effectively with all levels within and outside the company, preparing and delivering presentations that address the intended audience.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies to enhance software development productivity and support strategic product development.
• Empower engineering staff by providing training, removing barriers, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
• Support proposal development, including technical solutions, pricing, and scheduling content.

Requirements

• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in leadership roles such as Scrum Master, Team Lead, or Technical Area Lead on successful multi-discipline teams.
• Proven ability to solve complex issues with both internal and external customer input.
• Experience in developing design, requirement, and user documentation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Red Hat and/or Linux Operating Systems.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
• Proficiency in using software debugging tools to ensure the integrity of software products.
• Strong analytical skills and a collaborative leadership style.
