Backend Engineer - AI Platform Development (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer for AI Platform Development to join our innovative team at N26. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our internal AI platform, which is set to revolutionize engineering productivity across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Develop the core services that connect internal tools to AI providers, focusing on the AI Gateway.
• Implement routing, cost controls, security policies, and observability for seamless integration.
• Contribute to the Skills Marketplace, enabling teams to publish and reuse AI capabilities effectively.
• Build services that support AI-assisted workflows for engineers, enhancing their productivity.
• Collaborate with platform and DevEx teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems.
• Design and implement solutions that power the internal AI platform.
• Work closely with experienced engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Support experimentation and iteration on new AI-enabled developer experiences.

Requirements

• Solid experience in backend development using languages such as Kotlin, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Experience working with APIs and distributed systems.
• Interest in developer platforms, tooling, or internal products.
• Curiosity about AI and its potential to improve software development workflows.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work within a highly technical team.
• A data-driven mindset and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Nice To Have

• Experience with LLM integrations or AI platforms.
• Familiarity with developer tooling or internal platforms.
• Knowledge of observability and platform infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud-native systems and modern backend architectures.
