Senior Data Security Engineer - Remote Position

About the Role

Join Awin as a Senior Data Security Engineer (remote) where data protection is mission-critical. In this role, you will build and operate Awin’s data security capabilities across a complex hybrid environment, including AWS, Azure, and third-party SaaS platforms. As a Senior Data Security Engineer, you will lead the implementation of data loss prevention controls and manage Awin’s data security posture.

What You'll Do

• Architect and implement Awin’s data security framework in partnership with the Security Architect.
• Build and operationalize the classification taxonomy, sensitivity tiers, and data handling standards that underpin all downstream DLP, DSPM, and AI governance controls.
• Support the implementation of Awin’s data classification program, ensuring sensitive data is processed or stored securely.
• Own the implementation of DLP policies to prevent sensitive data breaches.
• Define policy architecture, alert thresholds, and enforcement logic.
• Operationalize data security posture management tooling for visibility and control over sensitive data flows.
• Act as the data security domain expert for the Security Architecture function.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure data security requirements integrate with the broader data governance framework.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in a dedicated, senior data security role.
• Proven track record of implementing data classification frameworks in complex environments.
• Hands-on experience leading DLP program implementation and management.
• Experience engaging with data engineering and governance teams.
• Exposure to AI governance and DSPM is desirable.
• Knowledge of GDPR and data protection obligations.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Able to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Nice to Have

• Experience with CASB concepts and tooling.
• Understanding of AI service data handling models.
• Broad awareness of data governance frameworks.
