Junior Backend Engineer - AI & IoT Solutions

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team at KONUX, where we are transforming the railway industry with innovative AI-powered solutions. In this Junior Backend Engineer remote role, you will contribute to building backend services that address real-world challenges, while collaborating with experienced engineers and enhancing your skills.

What You'll Do

• Develop backend services and automation that support our products for customers and internal users.
• Implement features, fix bugs, and improve existing systems with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in discussions about customer problems and product improvements, sharing your ideas and learning from others.
• Collaborate with Backend, DevOps, and Data Engineers to build reliable and scalable solutions.
• Learn and apply best practices in backend development, testing, and system design.
• Maintain a clean and consistent codebase by following team standards and participating in code reviews.

Requirements

• Work or internship experience writing production code in Python and/or Java (Spring Boot).
• Basic understanding of backend development concepts (APIs, services, data handling).
• Exposure to at least one database technology (SQL or NoSQL) and a willingness to learn more.
• Hands-on exposure to GenAI technologies (e.g., working with LLM APIs, prompt design, or frameworks like LangChain).
• Familiarity with cloud environments (preferably AWS) is a plus.
• Strong willingness to learn and grow, with good communication skills.
• A problem-solving mindset and curiosity to understand how systems work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices.
