Senior Systems Engineer - European Sovereign Cloud (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - European Sovereign Cloud (Remote) to join our AWS Managed Operations team. This role is pivotal as we introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a significant advancement in Utility Computing (UC). As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating closely with global AWS teams to enhance AWS services and technology for EU customers.

What You'll Do

• Lead operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock.
• Review the operational health of the services in your team’s care, identifying anomalies and writing actionable bug reports.
• Execute changes to production systems following a change management process.
• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours.
• Collaborate with technology leaders to improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
• Experience in scripting (Bash, Python, Ruby) or software development (Java, TypeScript).
• Knowledge of Linux and networking fundamentals.
• Experience operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
• Experience with monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
