About the Role

We are seeking a Senior WordPress Security Developer - Anti-Spam Specialist to join our team remotely. This role is crucial for enhancing the security of our UK-based e-commerce site built on WordPress, which has been plagued by spam registrations for over a decade. As a Senior WordPress Security Developer, you will implement robust anti-spam measures that are effective yet user-friendly.

What You'll Do

• Audit the current WordPress registration and login flows, including all security plugins and custom code.
• Identify how bots are circumventing existing protections, such as API abuse and plugin vulnerabilities.
• Develop and implement advanced anti-spam measures tailored to the site's architecture, including custom challenges and behavior analysis.
• Ensure the solution is lightweight and maintainable while providing a seamless experience for genuine users.
• Document your findings and provide a brief handoff to the client.

Requirements

• Proven experience with WordPress security, specifically in combating spam registrations and bot attacks.
• Strong PHP and WordPress development skills, including themes, plugins, hooks, and REST API.
• Familiarity with modern anti-spam techniques such as CAPTCHA variants and browser fingerprinting.
• Ability to reverse engineer how bots operate and test your own solutions.
• Portfolio of similar projects showcasing your success in reducing spam or securing WordPress sites.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

• Experience with e-commerce platforms like WooCommerce and membership sites.
• Knowledge of server-level security measures and CDN configurations.
