Senior Windows Engineer - Hyper-Converged Infrastructure

About the Role

We are urgently seeking a Senior Windows Engineer remote to stabilize and production-harden our Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platform. This role is focused on Windows, Storage Spaces Direct, and infrastructure-level troubleshooting for a multi-site DR setup.

What You'll Do

  • Lead stabilization and optimization of an HCI environment based on Windows Server and Storage Spaces Direct.
  • Diagnose and remediate replication failures between sites, including VM hangs and node instability.
  • Troubleshoot packet loss and related network issues, including challenges involving Cisco networking equipment.
  • Work with Microsoft support to implement recommended fixes, patches, and configuration changes (“wrap” for the environment).
  • Validate and tune HCI performance, resiliency, and failover behavior for production workloads.
  • Collaborate with internal infrastructure teams on HPE hardware, Windows, storage, and networking dependencies.
  • Create and maintain documentation for configuration, standards, and operational runbooks.

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a Windows Systems Engineer / Windows Admin in enterprise data center environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Windows Server and Storage Spaces / Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) in HCI scenarios.
  • Storage-based replication in multi-site or DR configurations.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting replication failures, VM hangs, and cluster/node instability.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization, clustering, and infrastructure operations in production environments.
  • Experience working with Microsoft support on complex, escalated infrastructure issues.

Nice to Have

  • Experience stabilizing or “rescuing” troubled HCI or DR implementations.
  • Prior work in multi-site DC environments with strict uptime/DR requirements.
