Radiation Engineer for Space Electronics - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
Join us at The Exploration Company as a Radiation Engineer for Space Electronics. This remote opportunity allows you to contribute to the development of Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle. Your expertise will ensure the radiation robustness of our electronic systems, crucial for our mission to democratize space.
What You'll Do
- Write and verify C code in Microcontrollers according to space quality standards, adapting it for radiation testing.
- Verify VHDL code for FPGAs, ensuring all necessary functions are validated for radiation testing.
- Collaborate with the design team to suggest radiation effects mitigations for analog and digital circuit boards.
- Develop test setups for radiation qualification of finished engineering models of flight hardware.
- Implement optimal test setups for radiation testing, working closely with Systems Engineers.
- Create and adapt test scripts in Python for test automation.
- Write test software to monitor systems under radiation.
- Analyze existing code and FPGA designs for verification and improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Embedded Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in Microcontroller, FPGA, or SoC design and verification.
- Proficient in C programming for embedded systems.
- Solid knowledge of VHDL/Verilog.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory settings, including soldering and debugging prototype boards.
- Familiarity with radiation effects and failure mechanisms in electronic circuits.
- Experience with digital circuit design tools like KiCAD or Altium Designer is a plus.
- Knowledge of environmental qualification standards (ECSS, NASA-HBK, etc.) is advantageous.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Microchip Libero and Xilinx Vivado.
- Knowledge of programming and using laboratory equipment for electronics measurements.
