Senior Team Lead Developer - Node.js & React for FinTech

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Team Lead Developer to join our growing fintech development team in Lisbon, Portugal. This Senior Team Lead Developer remote position requires strong technical expertise in Node.js & React, along with a solid background in leadership. You will lead a cross-functional team working on a payment integration platform, contributing directly to architecture, delivery, and team growth.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust solutions that power our payments platform, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to building seamless integrations with banks and payment providers while actively participating in the evolution of a cutting-edge fintech product.
• Be transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.
• Hire and train technical personnel.
• Determine project requirements and develop work schedules for the team.
• Delegate tasks and achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
• Liaise with team members and management to ensure projects are completed to standard.
• Motivate staff and create a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.
• Collaborate with the team to identify and fix technical problems.
• Lead the development of our in-house fintech platform with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
• Build and manage complex payment API integrations with banks, PSPs, and third-party services.
• Contribute to backend development, ensuring consistency and stability across the product.
• Actively participate in developing new features from concept to production.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders in agile workflows to ensure technical feasibility and business alignment.
• Support the evolution of the architecture towards modern patterns (microservices, messaging systems, and scalable infrastructure).

Requirements

• At least 8+ years of professional experience in the IT field.
• 3+ years of experience in leadership positions.
• 3+ years of commercial experience with Node.js.
• 5+ years of commercial experience in web development.
• Knowledge of JavaScript and the ECMAScript 6 standards.
• Commercial experience in implementing REST and WebSockets.
• Experience with Git version control system.
• Experience with commercial databases, MySQL.
• Experience with RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Redis.
• B2 level of English.
• Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the fintech industry.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
