Senior Program Officer - Content Enablement for Wikimedia

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Program Officer, Content Enablement to join the Wikimedia Foundation and drive initiatives that attract new contributors through structured volunteering programs. This Senior Program Officer remote position offers a unique opportunity to partner with Wikimedia affiliates and volunteers, enhancing the Wikipedia editing experience.

What You'll Do

• Secure new partnerships with organizations that facilitate structured volunteering programs.
• Support Wikimedia communities and volunteers by offering training and content challenges through structured volunteering programs.
• Develop a deep understanding of Wikipedia editing practices and policies to effectively communicate with partners.
• Utilize readership data and community insights to identify knowledge gaps that align with volunteering organizations’ capacities.
• Communicate the needs of volunteering programs to Product Managers responsible for the Contributor Experience strategy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in education, youth, or volunteer management programs.
• Strong facilitation skills and the ability to build community trust and alignment.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• A proactive and flexible approach to working in a distributed, cross-cultural environment.
• Ability to connect with partners across various time zones (UTC+2 to UTC-5) and make 3 international trips annually.

Nice to Have

• A passion for open access to knowledge and/or experience contributing to Wikipedia.
• Fluency or proficiency in a language other than English.
