About the Role

We're hiring a Research Engineer - Code RL Team (Remote) to join our innovative team at Anthropic. As a Research Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our AI models' ability to write correct and efficient code for accelerators. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge research and engineering excellence, contributing to the development of safe and beneficial AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Invent, design, and implement reinforcement learning environments and evaluations.
• Conduct experiments and shape our research roadmap to enhance model performance.
• Deliver your work into training runs, ensuring the integration of research innovations into deployed models.
• Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and performance engineering specialists across and outside Anthropic.
• Utilize your expertise in accelerator performance to create tasks and signals that models can learn from.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Expertise with accelerators such as CUDA, ROCm, Triton, or Pallas.
• Experience with ML frameworks like JAX or PyTorch.
• Ability to balance research exploration with engineering implementation.
• Strong passion for AI's potential and commitment to developing safe systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience with reinforcement learning methodologies.
• Familiarity with porting ML workloads between different types of accelerators.
• Knowledge of large language model training methodologies.
