Payroll Incident & Risk Lead - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Payroll Incident & Risk Lead to join our dynamic team at Remote. This remote position offers the opportunity to spearhead the strategic development and execution of global payroll risk and incident management. You will play a critical role in enhancing our risk posture, driving resolution of high-impact incidents, and fostering a risk-aware culture across our operations.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and execution of global risk management frameworks for payroll operations, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
- Own and evolve the global payroll risk register, providing real-time visibility of critical risks and mitigation plans.
- Conduct cross-functional risk assessments with teams across Legal, Product, and Payroll Operations to identify emerging threats.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll incidents, establishing high-trust processes for triaging and resolving issues.
- Mentor and develop team members in risk assessment, incident handling, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) facilitation.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by translating incident data and operational feedback into actionable initiatives.
- Design and deliver training sessions to upskill teams in risk and incident practices.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to implement system fixes that enhance control and reduce incident recurrence.
Requirements
- Proven extensive experience in payroll risk management, incident response, compliance, or operations management, preferably in global payroll or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident response and implement data-driven solutions.
- Expertise in designing and scaling risk governance frameworks and tools.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and influence skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
- High emotional intelligence and comfort operating in ambiguity and complexity.
- Familiarity with tools like Notion and Monday.com is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a distributed, remote-first environment.
- Knowledge of RCA methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
