Payroll & Benefits Coordinator - Remote
About the Role
We're hiring a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to support and scale one of the most critical functions at Circle. This remote role will help ensure accuracy, continuity, and a great employee experience as we grow. You will work closely with our Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to execute day-to-day payroll and benefits operations while building a strong understanding of the full function.
What You'll Do
- Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and countries using Remote.
- Review and validate timekeeping data, including hours worked and PTO, ensuring accuracy before payroll runs.
- Process payroll changes including new hires, compensation updates, terminations, bonuses, and adjustments.
- Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.), including enrollments and life event changes.
- Manage contractor lifecycle operations, including agreements (SOWs), onboarding, and invoice schedules.
- Coordinate offboarding processes, including system updates, benefits terminations, and cross-functional alignment.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll and benefits, and support internal documentation and process improvements.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, or a related function, ideally in a high-growth or distributed company.
- Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, including taxes, deductions, and compliance basics.
- Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS tools (Remote.com experience is a plus).
- Advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., lookups) and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent).
Nice to Have
- Experience in a remote-first or distributed company.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll requirements in the U.S.
- Exposure to benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, etc.).
