Manufacturing Application Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Application Engineer to join our innovative team at TNO. This Manufacturing Application Engineer remote position is pivotal as we build a state-of-the-art pilot line for Indium Phosphide (InP) photonic chips at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. As part of the EU-funded PIXEurope program, you will help transition groundbreaking research into large-scale industrial manufacturing, making advanced photonic technologies faster, more reliable, and widely accessible.
What You'll Do
- Support and optimize manufacturing applications to enhance operational efficiency.
- Analyze manufacturing and engineering workflows to identify opportunities for system improvements.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and IT teams to translate operational needs into application configurations.
- Improve real-time data visibility and production monitoring within factory applications.
- Support the configuration and maintenance of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Assist in connecting manufacturing equipment using standard industrial communication interfaces such as SECS/GEM, OPC-UA, or REST.
- Monitor the health and performance of production applications and troubleshoot issues.
- Contribute to process optimization initiatives using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in production applications within a manufacturing or semiconductor environment.
- Hands-on experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or similar applications.
- Understanding of manufacturing workflows and equipment behavior.
- Experience with industrial communication interfaces and data analysis tools like SQL and Excel.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive working style with strong documentation and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with process optimization methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Experience in a high-tech wafer manufacturing environment.
