About the Role

We are seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join our team at Voleon Group. This remote position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI and machine learning applied to finance. As a member of our research staff, you will collaborate with leading experts and contribute to innovative solutions that drive our investment strategies.

What You'll Do

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Voleon's methodologies and propose innovative research experiments to enhance our predictive models.
• Prepare and analyze diverse datasets to evaluate their predictive capabilities.
• Design, validate, and implement new machine learning models into production.
• Conduct experiments to improve simulations and assess the effectiveness of new models in live trading environments.
• Collaborate with fellow research staff and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of research findings into practical applications.
• Stay updated on the latest academic research to identify novel methodologies applicable to financial markets.

Requirements

• Strong background in modern statistical methods and machine learning, with a proven track record as an applied researcher.
• Demonstrated mathematical abilities, evidenced by publications, graduate coursework, or competition placements.
• Proficiency in software development, particularly in Python and/or R, and willingness to write production-level code.
• Ability to tackle large-scale computing challenges and work collaboratively in diverse teams.
• Interest in financial applications is essential; prior finance industry experience is not mandatory.
• A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred, with Ph.D. level coursework required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial market prediction and portfolio optimization.
• Familiarity with advanced machine learning techniques and tools.
• Prior experience in a research or academic setting.
