Backend Engineer - Remote Opportunity in Gaming Advertising

About the Role

We are excited to announce an opening for a Backend Engineer remote position within our dynamic Xbox Advertising Engineering team. If you're passionate about building high-scale backend systems and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

What You'll Do

• Design and develop a highly scalable, available, and reliable Publisher Ads & Monetization platform that handles billions of requests per day.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineers to craft and architect backend systems.
• Work closely with product and peer engineering teams on multi-functional projects.
• Partner with DevOps engineers to ensure operational excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience in backend development, with a total of five years of combined education and experience.
• Proficiency in Java and experience with AdTech platforms.
• Familiarity with NoSQL systems such as Bigtable and Elastic.
• Expert knowledge in performance engineering and tools like JMeter.
• Experience in multithreading and asynchronous processing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a consistent record of working in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-based environments, particularly Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, test automation, Jenkins, and Gradle.
• Familiarity with open-source technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
