Finance Technician - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Finance Technician to join our team remotely. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting and providing cover for the sales and purchase ledgers each month, ensuring all transactions are accurately processed and recorded. As a Finance Technician, you will develop a strong understanding of the full end-to-end accounting process, from invoice entry and reconciliation through to ledger closure and the impact on management accounts.
What You'll Do
- Support and cover for the Accounting officers in the month-end closing process of both sales and purchase ledgers.
- Assist in processing, approving, and posting invoices accurately before the month-end.
- Support the credit control process by maintaining the aged receivables report and highlighting overdue balances.
- Manage supplier payments and statements reconciliations.
- Develop a deep understanding of specific business areas and take ownership of specific departmental P&L responsibilities.
- Compile and review the Group’s monthly consolidated P&L statement, contributing to a clear and insightful narrative.
- Assist in the completion of the weekly flash performance (KPI) report for submission to the Group Reporting Accountant.
- Collaborate with departments to develop financial and non-financial key performance indicators for reporting.
Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience in a finance environment with experience in sub-ledger management and P&L creation.
- Fully qualified account technician (e.g., AAT or CAT).
- Experience with reporting tools and expertise in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
- Highly analytical and numerate, with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, independent, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Resilient under pressure, adaptable, and flexible in approach.
- Proactive attitude to problem-solving.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Power BI and dashboard creation.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance.
- Knowledge of automation tools to improve financial processes.
