Engineering Manager - Growth for Data Platform

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager - Growth to join our dynamic team at Checkr. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Checkr Growth team, focusing on enhancing our self-serve business. This role is pivotal in driving our growth funnel, which includes Acquisition, Activation, Expansion, and Retention. You will leverage your extensive experience to build, coach, and inspire your engineering team to meet company objectives and successfully launch new products and features.

What You’ll Do

• Lead initiatives aimed at increasing self-service customer conversions and improving the onboarding experience.
• Drive test experimentation across multiple surfaces to unlock incremental business value while enhancing customer experience.
• Develop a technical vision that motivates and excites the team for future projects.
• Collaborate closely with product management to build new features and enhance existing ones.
• Work with the team to reduce technical debt and sustainably scale our architecture.
• Build relationships with cross-functional teams to drive results.
• Nurture and grow team members based on their career aspirations.
• Hire top talent and continuously raise the bar for the team.
• Represent the team in planning and product meetings.
• Optimize engineering processes and policies to enhance velocity and quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
• 8+ years of experience as an engineer.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing quality incidents as a technical lead.
• Proficiency in working on products at scale and understanding the data, legal, human impact, and technical nuances of supporting highly regulated products.
• Strong experience with TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies.
• Deep understanding of service architecture and system design.
• Ability to make high-level prioritization decisions quickly and thoughtfully.
• A commitment to developing inclusive teams and fostering growth and diversity.
