Database Reliability Engineer - Remote Position

We are seeking a skilled Database Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team at Sporty Group. As a Database Reliability Engineer remote, you will take ownership of our existing and new database infrastructure across multiple platforms, ensuring high availability and performance. With tens of millions of visitors weekly, this role is critical to our mission of providing the best experience for our users.

What You'll Do

• Work collaboratively with a team of DBRE and DevOps professionals to design, implement, and maintain highly available database architectures.
• Improve existing database infrastructure through performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Develop automation tools using Go and Python to streamline database operations and minimize manual interventions.
• Monitor database health and performance metrics, establishing alerting mechanisms based on SLO burn rates.
• Take ownership of database operations, including schema changes, data migrations, and production deployments.
• Provide database design consultation and troubleshooting support to development teams.
• Conduct regular security audits and implement best practices to protect sensitive data.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in managing advanced MySQL and MongoDB systems.
• Proven experience as a Database Reliability Engineer in large-scale production environments.
• Deep understanding of database architecture, performance optimization, and high availability solutions.
• Strong programming skills in Go and Python, with a focus on automation.
• Familiarity with SLI/SLO/SLA concepts and reliability engineering practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS services, including Aurora and DocumentDB.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
