Database Engineer - Remote Opportunity with Relocation Support

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Database Engineer to join our dynamic team at Kaufland e-commerce. This remote Database Engineer position allows you to work from anywhere in Germany, offering flexibility and a chance to contribute to one of the fastest-growing online marketplaces. Our Tech & Product Team, comprising around 400 experts, is dedicated to enhancing the customer shopping experience through innovative technical developments.

What You'll Do

• Design and orchestrate our data stores and messaging systems, utilizing technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
• Optimize these systems to ensure scalable, highly available, and maintainable solutions across regions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and optimize slow queries, enhancing overall performance.
• Consult with various teams to select and implement the most suitable database solutions tailored to their needs.
• Manage the lifecycle of our database fleet, streamlining maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance security.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of MySQL and MongoDB, with experience in PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, and Redis being a plus.
• Proven track record of optimizing databases at scale in high-demand environments.
• Experience in managing infrastructure as code, specifically using Terraform and preferably Ansible.
• Strong understanding of the workflows and challenges software engineers face when interacting with the database stack.
• Fluency in English (C1) with excellent communication skills.
