About the Role

The Cato Institute is seeking a talented Comic Artist to join our team remotely for the Illustrated Supreme Court Review project. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your artistic skills with your passion for law and justice. As a Comic Artist, you will create engaging illustrations that accompany critical Supreme Court decisions, making complex legal concepts accessible to a broader audience.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with legal scholars to storyboard comic pages for the Illustrated Supreme Court Review.
• Utilize AI software to rapidly develop panels under tight deadlines, ensuring a consistent visual style.
• Bring your illustration skills to life by finalizing coherent chapters for each Supreme Court case.
• Participate in a rigorous quality-control process to prepare chapters for print publication.
• Contribute creatively to the layout and design that aligns with the scholars' vision.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in drawing comics, preferably for print.
• Strong creative judgment to help design layouts that execute the vision of legal scholars.
• Reliable work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• A keen attention to detail and quality, with a willingness to respond to feedback across multiple revisions.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
• Familiarity with AI platforms such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and DALL·E.
