Cloud Security Engineer (GCP) - Risk Reduction Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Cloud Security Engineer (GCP) - Risk Reduction Remote to join our team at Dahl Consulting. This role is 100% remote and focuses on enhancing cloud security across various platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a crucial role in reducing risks and remediating existing security issues while preventing future vulnerabilities through automation and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute remediation plans for high-priority security issues across GCP, Azure, and AWS environments.
- Update and maintain Terraform repositories and automation scripts to ensure consistent remediation across multiple cloud projects.
- Coordinate with engineering and infrastructure teams to manage misconfigured or exposed cloud secrets effectively.
- Identify and address root causes of security issues to prevent recurrence in future deployments.
- Validate that remediation actions have been successfully implemented, either directly or through partner teams.
- Navigate existing cloud architectures and repositories to understand risk context and anticipate potential system impacts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience writing automation pipelines and/or scripts specifically for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- 3+ years of experience writing production-grade Terraform in complex environments (e.g., 100+ GCP projects).
- 5+ years of overall cloud engineering experience with GCP.
- Strong proficiency in cloud engineering, traditional infrastructure, and automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, scripting, CI/CD).
- Proficiency with on-prem and cloud networking, including software-defined networking (SDN).
- Strong understanding of core infrastructure components across on-prem and cloud environments, including compute, storage, databases, IAM, and networking.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and remediate complex technical issues with minimal supervision.
- Experience navigating large, enterprise cloud architectures and code repositories.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting Azure and/or AWS environments.
- Familiarity with GitHub and/or Atlantis.
- Prior experience focused specifically on cloud security initiatives.
- Background that combines both infrastructure and security disciplines.
