Backend Tech Lead - Remote Contract Position

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Tech Lead to join our team in a remote contract position. In this role, you will have the opportunity to define architecture and standards while delivering features end to end. You will consistently raise the bar for reliability, security, and delivery speed, making a significant impact on our projects.

What You'll Do

• Own architecture decisions and keep them pragmatic: “simple first, scalable where it matters.”
• Drive code quality through reviews, standards, and branching/release hygiene.
• Break down work, reliably estimate, unblock the team, and align with the PM/BA on scope.
• Mentor engineers and cultivate a strong engineering culture around clarity and ownership.
• Harden CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and deploy via Helm to AWS (EKS or ECS).
• Add lightweight bot protection including rate limits, IP allowlists, and abuse detection hooks.
• Monitor latency/error budgets via CloudWatch + Grafana, and implement structured logging and tracing.
• Optimize performance through DB indexes, caching strategies, queue throughput, and API response times.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building production systems; 2+ years in a lead/ownership role.
• Real experience running CI/CD, Docker, monitoring, and incidents in production.
• Deep understanding of RBAC, session/auth flows, and security basics (OWASP-minded).
• Familiarity with async/event-driven patterns: queues, schedulers, retries, idempotency.
• Upper-intermediate level of English or higher; fluent Ukrainian and/or Russian is a plus.
• Must have experience with .NET, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, OpenAPI 3, and GitHub Actions.

Nice to Have

• Background in RPA, UiPath, or similar automation-heavy environments.
• Experience with AI/ML/LLM-enabled products, data extraction, or workflow automation.
• Python backend experience (FastAPI, Flask, or similar).
