About the Role

What You'll Do

• Lead a small team while remaining hands-on in the design, optimization, and reliability of mission-critical database systems.
• Scale and modernize on-premise database environments, ensuring performance, resilience, and data integrity across high-volume, low-latency systems.
• Design and evolve robust database architecture to improve performance and availability.
• Drive best practices across database engineering and administration in a demanding trading environment.
• Manage high-availability systems, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
• Mentor and lead engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to influence database strategy and architecture decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering or DBA roles within production environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and SQL Server (on-premise) is essential.
• Proven experience managing high-availability systems and disaster recovery.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with player-coach or tech lead experience preferred.
• Solid SQL / T-SQL expertise and experience working with large-scale datasets.
• Background in financial services or trading environments is a plus.
