Animal Technician - Remote Role in Life Sciences

About the Role

We are looking for an Animal Technician to join our team at Charles River Laboratories. This remote Animal Technician role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of laboratory animals while supporting scientific research. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on animal welfare and research collaboration.

What You'll Do

• Manage transgenic rodent breeding according to research team instructions using animal management software.
• Monitor gestation status, track animals, perform sexing and weaning.
• Conduct controlled breeding and identify animals through micro-tattooing or microchipping.
• Perform sample collections for genotyping/phenotyping purposes.
• Update and maintain breeding records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure daily care and observation of animals, including feeding, watering, and enrichment activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of animal housing facilities.
• Collaborate closely with research teams to support ongoing projects.

Requirements

• Ideally, a degree in biology or a related field (bac+2 level).
• Prior experience in managing transgenic lines, particularly with rodents.
• Passion for animal care and a commitment to advancing scientific projects.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and adhere to safety protocols with personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Proficiency in using computer systems for data management.
• Certification in Animal Experimentation Level 2/A is a plus.
