About the Role

We are seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to join our innovative team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions that integrate Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies across business systems.
• Conduct and maintain RAG data pipelines by integrating LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) with enterprise document stores and vector databases.
• Collaborate with application developers and data scientists to optimize retrieval performance and improve accuracy through prompt engineering.
• Build scalable, secure APIs and microservices that enable RAG-based application access to business system data sources.
• Monitor AI technology performance and provide solutions to enhance usability and relevance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Significant experience in leveraging business operations data to support AI RAG efforts.
• Advanced skills in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java.
• Experience building AI-powered applications, particularly with RAG services and vector databases.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance.

Nice to Have

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments supporting cross-functional development teams.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization.
