Staff Data Engineer - Remote Position at Cloudbeds

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our fully remote team at Cloudbeds. As a Staff Data Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing large-scale distributed data processing systems that power our hospitality platform, which serves properties across 150 countries and processes billions in bookings annually.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust data pipelines and infrastructure using technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Flink.
• Transform complex data into actionable insights, ensuring scalability and fault-tolerance across our platform.
• Architect data lakes, warehouses, and real-time streaming platforms while implementing security measures and optimizing performance.
• Drive innovation by evaluating new technologies and continuously improving our data ecosystem.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, data scientists, and engineers, to solve data infrastructure challenges.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience in designing scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Strong coding skills in Python, SQL, or Scala, with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and streaming technologies (Kafka, Confluent).
• A proactive approach to diagnosing issues and taking ownership from concept to production.

Nice to Have

• Leadership skills for mentoring junior team members and coordinating projects.
• Domain knowledge of the hospitality industry to enhance data pipeline design.
• Experience with performance optimization techniques, such as query optimization and data partitioning.
