About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our team in the Accelerator Operations and Technology Division. This Engineering Technologist remote position will provide expertise, support, and technical leadership in testing and troubleshooting pulsed power systems. You will engage in design developmental activities for the LANSCE Accelerator Modernization Project (LAMP), collaborating with experimental physicists and engineers at various test stands.

What You'll Do

  • Support laboratory, test, and system operations by reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, checkout, and testing of high-voltage, pulsed power, and power electronic systems.
  • Utilize circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE, Multisim, and LTSPICE for troubleshooting and test preparation.
  • Apply engineering analysis tools like MATLAB and Simulink to support data review and system evaluation.
  • Prepare written technical documentation and communicate test activities effectively with team members.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Perform testing and characterization of power electronics circuits, including those with fast rise and fall times.
  • Support the Pulsed Power team on-call for accelerator activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math, or related field.
  • 5 years of directly related experience for Engineering Technologist 2; 8 years for Engineering Technologist 3.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing, troubleshooting, and characterizing electrical circuits.
  • Ability to safely perform hands-on work in a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of developing and executing structured test plans based on observed results.

Nice to Have

  • Operations experience at an accelerator facility.
  • Familiarity with particle accelerator operations.
  • Experience with EDA and ECAD tools (Cadence, Siemens EDA, Altium).
