Staff Backend Engineer - Distributed Systems for Grafana

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for Distributed Systems to join our innovative team at Grafana Labs. This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the United States or Canada, contributing to our mission of creating open-source solutions that empower users worldwide. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our Pyroscope project, which offers scalable and efficient profiling solutions integrated with Grafana.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with your team to deliver new features, analyze outcomes, and make improvements as a Backend Engineer.
• Lead projects from concept to implementation, ensuring ongoing customer support and satisfaction.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain essential systems, focusing on reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take responsibility for the services you oversee.
• Support and mentor team members, engaging in design conversations and working closely with colleagues.
• Expand your skill set by deepening your knowledge of our cloud products and understanding our customers' needs.

Requirements

• Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred, but Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar are also acceptable).
• Experience designing and developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering.
• Strong background in distributed systems and familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others.
• Experience with being on-call and performing operations/SRE tasks.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
• Exposure to microservices architecture.
• Database backend experience.
