HPC Workflows Engineer - Remote Opportunity at BSC

About the Role

We're hiring an HPC Workflows Engineer to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). This remote HPC Workflows Engineer position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in high-performance computing. As part of the Models and Workflows team, you will develop software to run modeling experiments in Pre-Exascale HPC facilities.

What You'll Do

• Develop workflow scripts and libraries to execute Earth models on state-of-the-art HPC systems.
• Contribute to the development and execution of automated tests.
• Work within an Agile framework, attend project meetings, and contribute to writing project reports.
• Port and test state-of-the-art Digital Twins to Pre-Exascale systems.
• Collaborate with an international team to develop modeling workflows for advanced projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Proficient in UNIX/LINUX environments and Python programming.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash.
• Familiarity with version control in a collaborative environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of HPC computer architecture, including CPU, accelerators, and parallel I/O.
• Experience in coding and documentation best practices.
• Previous experience in a scientific area related to the research position.
