Software Engineer – AI Systems (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer – AI Systems to join our innovative team at XBOW. This remote position offers you the chance to work with cutting-edge AI technologies in the cybersecurity domain. As a Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing systems that leverage large language models (LLMs) to enhance our security platform.

What You'll Do

• Build LLM-powered software that performs reliably by designing prompt flows and orchestrations that ensure high performance with no false positives.
• Architect and develop an AI-powered software stack that is production-grade, testable, and maintainable.
• Design and implement experiments and evaluation frameworks for performance testing of the system at scale, conducting data analysis to draw actionable conclusions.
• Collaborate with the AI team, security experts, and both frontend and backend developers to create end-to-end systems that work effectively and are loved by customers.
• Own projects from ideation and experimentation through to deployment and production monitoring.
• Continuously research advancements in LLMs to improve our systems and processes.

Requirements

• Strong experience in building software around LLMs, including prompting, orchestration, fault-tolerance, and integration with hard-coded logic.
• Proven software engineering skills, particularly in architecting and building production-grade software that is reliable and maintainable.
• Experience with TypeScript or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming languages.
• Strong problem-solving skills, capable of working with incomplete information and rapidly testing hypotheses.
• Comfortable in a dynamic environment that combines the fast-paced nature of a startup with the curiosity-driven approach of a research lab.
• A Master's degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, physics, or machine learning.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in the security sector, particularly in offensive security or applying LLMs in a security context.
• Contributions to open-source software related to LLMs.
• A strong theoretical background, such as a Ph.D. in machine learning, computer science, or mathematics.
• Experience in a startup environment and comfort with ambiguity.
