AI-based Atmospheric Emulator Developer - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking an AI-based Atmospheric Emulator Developer to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge climate science through the development of AI-based emulators. You will be instrumental in simulating climate trajectories using advanced models, enabling faster simulations and supporting vital climate research.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop an AI-based atmospheric emulator that simulates climate trajectories based on state-of-the-art climate models.
- Implement, test, and validate machine learning models to reproduce outputs from high-resolution climate simulations.
- Collaborate with climate scientists to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the emulator’s predictions.
- Optimize the emulator for performance and scalability on high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Document the development process and provide support for users of the emulator.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is highly valued.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Familiarity with deep learning architectures and techniques.
- Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
- Ability to process and manage large datasets for machine learning training pipelines.
- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish or other European languages is advantageous.
- Knowledge of climate science or experience with climate models is highly valued.
Nice to Have
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) and optimizing models for large-scale simulations.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
