Senior Software Engineer - Location-Aware Software Development (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Location-Aware Software Development to join our innovative team at Esri. In this role, you will develop visualization software that emphasizes the importance of proximity and location. Your contributions will empower developer communities to re-imagine the capabilities of location-aware software applications, leading to real-world improvements. As part of a talented cross-functional team, you will help deliver solutions that make a positive impact on communities worldwide. This position supports Defense and Intel clients, and you will play a key role in influencing lasting contributions through the web and mobile applications you create.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs for location-aware applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers and stakeholders to deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with web design and front-end development using libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Background in building high availability and high scalability solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
• Creative problem-solving skills with proven good judgment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• U.S. citizenship with an active or current (within 2 years) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field.

Nice to Have

• Master's in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, or a related STEM field.
• Esri certification and CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and secure development pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
