Senior Security Operations Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team at Cohere. This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the EMEA region. As a Senior Security Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the security posture of our cloud-native environments, ensuring the safety of our AI systems and the data they handle.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and partner teams by articulating business risks associated with security issues.
  • Harden our cloud-native environments (AWS, OCI, GCP) by implementing secure-by-default designs and features.
  • Own and drive resolutions for enabling engineers to design, build, and use infrastructure securely at scale.
  • Manage IAM/RBAC for cloud infrastructure and collaborate with IT on streamlining authentication/authorization.
  • Deploy and operationalize security services and tools such as SIEM, SOAR, and cloud security tooling.
  • Respond to security incidents and implement measures to harden environments post-incident.
  • Support control monitoring and remediation for compliance initiatives.
  • Gather and analyze security metrics to address security issues with cross-team dependencies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in SecOps, DevSecOps, Cloud Security, or Threat Detection & Response.
  • Hands-on experience in automating security controls and managing cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems and SecOps workflows (Git, Terraform).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, network segmentation, and security observability.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang and Python.
  • Ability to make informed decisions with limited data and a flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Understanding of secure engineering best practices and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with container security concepts.
  • Knowledge of security observability tools.
  • Familiarity with incident response processes.
