Senior Data Engineer - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting a large-scale data platform modernization initiative. This position requires a blend of hands-on engineering and technical leadership, focusing on building and improving scalable data pipelines, enforcing engineering standards, and driving data platform consistency.

What You'll Do

• Provide technical leadership and oversight across data engineering efforts.
• Review and guide data pipeline development to ensure quality, scalability, and consistency.
• Support and unblock engineers during development and migration activities.
• Drive migration of data assets into modern data platforms, specifically Databricks and governed environments.
• Establish and enforce data governance standards, including naming, ownership, and structure.
• Design and implement data quality, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
• Enable integration of data platforms with downstream systems and analytics environments.
• Partner with platform and infrastructure teams to support data accessibility and performance.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Advanced data pipeline development experience, including design, build, and optimization.
• Proven experience in data engineering within production environments.
• Experience with data governance frameworks such as Unity Catalog or similar.
• Strong understanding of data quality, monitoring, and reliability best practices.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Google Cloud.
• Ability to review code, enforce standards, and guide other engineers.
• Strong stakeholder collaboration across engineering and platform teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning frameworks.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python or Scala.
