Senior Data Engineer - Oncology Research (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a subsidiary of McKesson. This remote Senior Data Engineer position offers the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to advancing oncology treatments and improving outcomes for cancer patients globally. You will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining data engineering processes that support our strategic data needs.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to support various data-driven initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain Databricks Lakehouse pipelines across Bronze/Silver/Gold (Delta) layers, ensuring data quality and lineage.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and contribute to the development of robust data architectures.
  • Work on data integration projects, ensuring seamless data flow between systems.
  • Implement best practices for data engineering, focusing on data quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Contribute to data modernization efforts by leveraging cloud solutions and optimizing data processing workflows.
  • Stay updated on emerging data engineering technologies and implement industry best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership in enabling AI/ML initiatives by designing scalable and reliable data engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Deep technical expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines and large-scale processing systems.
  • Strong experience with Azure Cloud and Databricks.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Pyspark, or Scala.
  • Excellent understanding of data engineering principles, data architecture, and database management.
  • Experience building AI/ML data pipelines in Databricks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
