Senior Data Engineer - Oncology Research (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a subsidiary of McKesson. This remote Senior Data Engineer position offers the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to advancing oncology treatments and improving outcomes for cancer patients globally. You will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining data engineering processes that support our strategic data needs.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to support various data-driven initiatives.
- Develop and maintain Databricks Lakehouse pipelines across Bronze/Silver/Gold (Delta) layers, ensuring data quality and lineage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and contribute to the development of robust data architectures.
- Work on data integration projects, ensuring seamless data flow between systems.
- Implement best practices for data engineering, focusing on data quality, reliability, and performance.
- Contribute to data modernization efforts by leveraging cloud solutions and optimizing data processing workflows.
- Stay updated on emerging data engineering technologies and implement industry best practices.
- Provide technical leadership in enabling AI/ML initiatives by designing scalable and reliable data engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Deep technical expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines and large-scale processing systems.
- Strong experience with Azure Cloud and Databricks.
- Proficient in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Pyspark, or Scala.
- Excellent understanding of data engineering principles, data architecture, and database management.
- Experience building AI/ML data pipelines in Databricks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
