Senior Software Developer - FinTech Payment Solutions

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Developer remote to join our core engineering team at SimplePin. In this role, you will play a vital part in designing, building, and scaling the payment infrastructure that thousands of Canadians rely on every day. This is a hands-on position that offers real ownership and the opportunity to work across the full stack, with a strong emphasis on backend systems, integrations, and reliability.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust backend systems using Node.js, Python, or similar technologies.
• Build and consume REST APIs and webhooks to enhance system integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless payment processing.
• Optimize database interactions with PostgreSQL or MySQL for performance and reliability.
• Implement security best practices to safeguard payment transactions and financial data.
• Work independently in a fully remote, async-friendly environment, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend development skills with experience in Node.js, Python, or similar.
• Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs and webhooks.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience working with payment systems, financial platforms, or banking integrations.
• Strong grasp of security best practices in a payments or financial context.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Interac e-Transfer, Open Banking, or Canadian payment rails.
• Familiarity with iGaming, fintech, or regulated industries.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Full-stack experience with modern frontend frameworks like React or Vue.
• Experience with event-driven architectures or message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
