Senior Data Architect - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Senior Data Architect to join our team remotely. In this role, you will be instrumental in defining and executing data architecture strategies for the Government of Alberta's Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) project. This project aims to replace legacy systems with modern solutions, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. As a Senior Data Architect, you will work closely with various stakeholders to develop a secure, high-performing, analytics-ready data architecture that supports operations and advanced analytics.
What You'll Do
- Lead the definition and documentation of data architecture, including data requirements, strategies, and design principles.
- Guide the design and governance of schemas, tables, and data access patterns to ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Oversee the development of end-to-end data architecture, ensuring integration across all applications and systems.
- Collaborate with vendors to validate data mapping and support data migration activities.
- Define data quality standards and validation rules to ensure data readiness across project stages.
- Implement data governance practices to comply with privacy and records management policies.
- Participate in Agile delivery cycles, embedding data considerations early in design and backlog refinement.
- Translate technical data concepts into actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect, with a strong focus on cloud technologies and data management.
- Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics, Azure, and data warehousing solutions.
- Proven track record in leading data architecture projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and security standards.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data lakehouse architectures and big data processing.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Certifications in data management or cloud technologies.
