Senior AI/​ML Engineer - Inventory Forecasting & Decision Systems

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior AI/ML Engineer - Inventory Forecasting & Decision Systems to join our innovative team. This remote role offers an exciting opportunity to drive the development of advanced inventory forecasting and decision systems, with a focus on leveraging machine learning techniques to make impactful business decisions.

What You'll Do

• Build and enhance inventory demand forecasting models using machine learning and statistical methods.
• Own the entire lifecycle of ML models: from data collection and feature engineering to training, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Develop decision systems that facilitate inventory planning, pricing strategies, and demand forecasting.
• Construct and maintain data pipelines and API integrations for both external and internal data sources.
• Work with complex real-world data to ensure model reliability through thorough validation and testing.
• Implement LLM/AI-agent workflows to automate processes based on domain logic.
• Operate independently within a small team, prioritizing tasks, overcoming challenges, and clearly communicating trade-offs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Python, specifically in production ML systems beyond notebooks and research.
• Deep understanding of statistical modeling, including ensemble methods, kNN, calibration, cross-validation, and feature engineering.
• Expertise in time-series modeling and forecasting, covering aspects like seasonality, trend decomposition, safety stock, and demand planning.
• Proven track record of deploying ML models that influence significant business decisions, particularly in forecasting, pricing, and demand planning.
• Strong intuition for handling messy, real-world data, including bias correction and distribution shifts.
• Experience with API integration and data pipeline architecture at scale.
• Hands-on experience with LLM/AI-agent workflows, including prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to validate models rigorously through methods like LOO, backtesting, and addressing production vs offline metric gaps.

Nice to Have

• Experience in Amazon marketplace, e-commerce, or retail analytics.
• Familiarity with similarity-based methods such as kNN, embeddings, and vector search.
• Experience in maintaining long-lived model systems through multiple iteration cycles.
• Prior experience in a startup or founder-adjacent role.
