Network Technician II - Remote Contract Position

About the Role

We are looking for a Network Technician II - Remote to join our team at Insight Global. This is a contract position that offers the opportunity to work fully remotely in the U.S. As a Network Technician II, you will play a crucial role in supporting a large telecommunications project that spans approximately 10,000 network sites. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring smooth network operations and troubleshooting connectivity issues.

What You'll Do

• Perform scheduled network activations and turn-ups, responding promptly to activation failures.
• Utilize your hands-on experience with VPNs to troubleshoot connectivity issues effectively.
• Communicate regularly with vendors and customers to resolve technical tickets and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work with routing protocols, particularly BGP, and routing hardware such as Cisco and Juniper.
• Engage with Ethernet technologies and apply your knowledge of the OSI model (Layers 1-3) to address network challenges.
• Complete 2-3 activations daily, with each activation typically taking 1-4 hours.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to hit the ground running.
• Maintain a work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm in your local timezone.

Requirements

• 3-4+ years of experience in a network-related role supporting commercial or enterprise-level customers.
• Hands-on experience with VPNs and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with BGP routing protocol and routing hardware.
• Experience with Ethernet technologies and IP subnetting.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and vendors.

Nice to Have

• Network certification such as Network+ or CCNA.
• Experience with Cisco SD-WAN.
