Senior AI Engineering Lead - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior AI Engineering Lead to join our innovative team at AirShelf AI. In this remote role, you will not be writing code by hand; instead, you will be steering AI to produce coherent and efficient systems. Your primary responsibility will be to review AI-generated code, ensuring that new integrations fit seamlessly into our existing architecture. You will be the first engineer in this role, making your impact felt from day one.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the integration of customer-facing dashboards, ensuring product golden records and score tracking are accurate and insightful.
• Manage data pipelines for product enrichment and benchmarking across AI models.
• Develop CLI tools to enhance agent readiness scoring and leaderboards.
• Facilitate new customer integrations from start to finish, ensuring they align with our architectural standards.
• Collaborate with a small team to maintain coherence in our AI-driven systems.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with an understanding of high-quality code.
• Systems thinking to comprehend how components fit together and identify potential issues at scale.
• Comfortable directing and reviewing AI-generated code without writing it yourself.
• Ability to explain how AI-built systems function, avoiding failure modes like "AI did it" as an explanation.
• Experience in shipping and integrating code that works within the system.
• Excellent asynchronous communication skills, as you will be part of a remote team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI tools as infrastructure rather than novelty.
• Strong CS fundamentals, regardless of formal education.
• Previous experience in a startup environment.
