Product Designer - AI Focus for Biotech Revolution

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Product Designer - AI Focus to join our team at Benchling, a leader in biotechnology innovation. This remote Product Designer role will allow you to work on cutting-edge AI features that empower scientists to enhance their workflows and accelerate their research. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of biotechnology by designing user experiences that are not only functional but also delightful.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to define product strategy and scope in a fast-paced startup-like environment.
• Own the design process for high-impact initiatives, from research and wireframing to implementation.
• Work closely with Engineers to quickly prototype ideas and validate product directions.
• Conduct user research and interviews to inform product direction and improve usability.
• Contribute to evolving Design systems by collaborating with other Designers to create high-utility design components.
• Communicate design rationale effectively to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Adapt to a hybrid work environment that balances in-person collaboration with remote work.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in designing SaaS, mobile, or AI products, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design capabilities.
• Proven track record of simplifying complex product architectures and workflows.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex design decisions.
• Experience contributing to a design system for complex software products.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an agile environment with Product Management and Engineers.
• A strong understanding of AI is beneficial but not mandatory.
