Principal Systems Modeling & Simulation Engineer - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Systems Modeling & Simulation Engineer to join our innovative team at Northrop Grumman. As a Principal Systems Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of technological advancements, contributing to projects that range from mission planning applications to the simulation of complex systems like radars and aircraft.

What You'll Do

• Utilize full life cycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software using C# / .NET.
• Leverage core computer science fundamentals—algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis—to solve logical and mathematical problems.
• Develop, profile, and tune high-performance, optimized code; conduct runtime analysis and memory usage profiling.
• Build and maintain desktop applications with WPF and the MVVM pattern; extend MVVM concepts to modern UI frameworks such as Blazor.
• Design and publish reusable UI component libraries that work in both WPF and Blazor environments.
• Implement common application patterns (CRUD, DTO design, gRPC services) to enable efficient data exchange.
• Use Visual Studio at an expert level (debugging, refactoring, performance profiling).
• Create and maintain technical documentation; translate design decisions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant military/professional experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Proficiency in Object Oriented languages (C#, C++, Java) and Windows-based development.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while adhering to strict timelines.

Nice to Have

• Experience with system of systems modeling tools (AFSIM, Suppressor, Brawler).
• Hands-on experience with Service Oriented Architectures and systems integration projects.
• Advanced proficiency with CommunityToolkit.Mvvm / MVVMToolkit.
