Operations Team Leader - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for an Operations Team Leader remote to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope. You will manage allocated shipside and landside resources on shift to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of terminal operations, considering operational, commercial, and safety factors, whilst adhering to Port Policies and Procedures and relevant legislation.

What You'll Do

• Ensure safety, discipline, and environmental standards in assigned areas.
• Support efficient terminal operations and resource planning.
• Oversee shipside and landside activities in line with policies, regulations, and customer needs.
• Assist Shift Management with pre-shift setup and coordination.
• Continuously supervise operations to resolve issues and maintain safety and efficiency.
• Manage operational plans and ensure teams have up-to-date information.
• Conduct vessel inspections, report hazards, and communicate findings to relevant teams.
• Track performance metrics like ship moves and truck turnaround times.

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
• Proven experience in container terminal operations.
• Strong communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Collaborative and maintains good interdepartmental relationships.
• Safety-conscious with the ability to promote safe working practices.
• Proactive, team-oriented, and deadline-driven.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience operating port equipment and handling lifting/slinging tasks.
• Flexible with shift work and overtime availability.
