Mid-Senior Database Reliability Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Database Reliability Engineer to join our team at Motorola Solutions. This remote position offers the opportunity to ensure our databases are stable, fast, and recoverable. As a Database Reliability Engineer, you will work closely with our software development teams to deliver expert advice on database performance and best practices.

What You'll Do

• Analyze database performance and troubleshoot high-latency queries.
• Maintain high availability and reliability of database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Design and test backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Database Reliability Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with development teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-based database solutions.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation.
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
