Mid-Senior Data Engineer - Safety and Customer Care Team

About the Role

At Lyft, we are seeking a Data Engineer - Safety and Customer Care Team to join our dynamic team. This remote Data Engineer position will allow you to work from Ukraine while contributing to our mission of connecting and serving our community. As a key member of the Safety and Customer Care (SCC) team, you will manage over 1.7 million monthly interactions, ensuring that both riders and drivers feel safe and supported.

What You'll Do

• Own the core data pipeline, responsible for scaling data processing flows to accommodate rapid growth at Lyft.
• Evolve data models and schemas based on business and engineering needs.
• Implement systems to track data quality and consistency.
• Develop tools that support self-service data pipeline management (ETL).
• Optimize SQL and MapReduce jobs to enhance data processing performance.
• Write well-crafted, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, data science, and marketing to align on business problems and solutions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, particularly with large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Spark and familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem, S3, DynamoDB, and MapReduce.
• Proficient in at least one SQL language (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
• 1+ years of experience with workflow management tools (Airflow, Oozie, Azkaban, UC4).
• Strong scripting skills in Python or Go.
