Data Center Engineer - Remote Opportunities Available
About the Role
We are seeking a Data Center Engineer to join our team at Gromelski & Associates, Inc. This remote Data Center Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to work in a submarine environment where innovative solutions are crucial. You will be tasked with enhancing our power distribution systems, which are currently nearing their limits, while also addressing cooling challenges. Your expertise will be vital in shaping the future of our data center operations.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement high-density power architectures and power conversion strategies.
- Manage rack-level power budgeting and ensure efficient power distribution through PDUs and UPS integration.
- Conduct thermal management and airflow engineering to optimize cooling systems.
- Utilize CFD-based thermal modeling to enhance cooling designs for racks exceeding 15kW.
- Analyze reliability engineering and fault tolerance to ensure system resilience.
- Develop monitoring and alerting systems to maintain optimal performance in data center operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GPU clusters and high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Provide innovative solutions for space and power limitations in data center environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience with modular and scalable compute infrastructure, including blade servers and GPU clusters.
- Knowledge of PCIe, NVLink, and high-speed interconnects.
- Familiarity with liquid cooling systems and thermal management strategies.
Nice to Have
- Experience in military or defense-related projects.
- Advanced certifications in data center management or engineering.
- Familiarity with advanced monitoring tools and software.
